Garage Door Sensor Repair Across DFW

If your garage door starts to close, then reverses back up — or won't close at all while the opener light blinks — the safety sensors are the first thing to check. Those two small eyes near the floor stop the door from closing on people, pets and cars. When they're blocked, dirty or out of line, the opener refuses to close the door.

Before You Call: Three Things to Try

First, make sure nothing is in the beam — a box, a broom, a bike tire or even a cobweb. Second, wipe both lenses with a soft cloth; Texas dust and pollen collect on them. Third, look at the small lights on each sensor. If one is off or blinking, the sensors are out of alignment.

If that doesn't fix it, the problem may be a loose bracket, damaged wiring, a failed sensor or an opener issue. We test the whole circuit, realign or replace the sensors and confirm the safety-reverse works before we leave. Never disconnect or bypass the sensors — they're a required safety feature.

  • Door reverses for no reason
  • Door only closes if you hold the wall button
  • Opener light blinks when you try to close
  • Sensor light off or flickering

FAQ

Garage Door Sensor FAQ

Still have a question? Call us and talk to a technician, not a call center.

(972) 514-5972

Why does my garage door go back up before it closes?

Usually the safety sensors are blocked, dirty or misaligned. If cleaning and clearing the path doesn't help, call us.

Why does the door only close when I hold the button?

Holding the wall button overrides the sensors. That's a sign they aren't working and need repair.

Can direct sunlight affect garage door sensors?

Yes. Strong low sun shining into a sensor can confuse it. Repositioning or a sensor shade can help.

How much does sensor repair cost?

Sensor realignment is often included in a standard repair visit, and replacement sensors are quoted before we start.

Can I remove the sensors?

No. They're a required safety feature that protects people and pets.
